The utility Windows Key X menu editor takes care of that problem. The name of the file can be changed for any reason. This method allows you to open your default text editor with a blank text file on your desktop. For security reasons, Windows will not allow additions unless the shortcuts contain certain code. If you’re looking for a new text file, right-click an empty area on your desktop and select New from the pop-up menu. Use the path:Ĭontrary to what some articles on the Internet say, you cannot simply add shortcuts to the folder that is used by the Quick Access Menu. This is the menu opened by the keyboard shortcut Windows Key X.
